Role
The Senior Manager, Music and Screen, position leads the team that delivers the State Government's contemporary music program and supports the work of two of the state's screen agencies, VicScreen and Docklands Studios Melbourne.
Reporting to the Director - Creative Investment, the Senior Manager will oversee the development and delivery of key government investments including grant programs, professional development and employment initiatives, as well as providing high-level strategic advice on key challenges and opportunities facing Victoria's contemporary music and screen sectors.
Below are the main responsibilities of this role:
1. Provide expert authoritative policy advice regarding the contemporary music and screen sectors in local, national and international contexts. Identify and respond to new and emerging issues in contemporary music and screen and their longer-term implications for the State.
2. Lead and mentor a team to foster a supportive, collaborative, and inclusive culture, build capabilities and achieve priorities by modelling public sector values and behaviours integral to good people management and supporting individuals to achieve their potential.
3. Oversee the music and screen teams' investment initiatives through:
4. effective monitoring and evaluation to demonstrate delivery on intended outcomes and to inform future investment.
5. transparent management and monitoring of expenditure against team and program budgets, raising resource issues in a constructive and solution-focussed way.
6. collaboration with communications colleagues to ensure new opportunities and program outcomes are shared effectively across relevant internal and external channels.
The Team
The position of Senior Manager, Music and Screen, forms a part of the Strategy and Delivery branch within the Creative Victoria Group.
This branch brings Creative Victoria's programs and investment in support of artists, creative workers, creative organisations and businesses, and portfolio agencies, together with our work to improve access to affordable space and deliver world-class creative infrastructure.
About You
The successful applicant will have an extensive knowledge of Australia's contemporary music and/or screen sector and be expected to manage interactions with key internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain key government and industry relationships.
The successful applicant will lead a small team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the division and sector.
Use your significant experience and achievement in policy and strategy development, implementation and evaluation, and public program delivery in a government context to add value to our current offering.
Your strategic leadership will translate the organisation's strategy into meaningful, long-term plans and objectives.
