Bendigo Children’s Dentistry is the first ever specialist paediatric dental practice established in the Greater Bendigo Region. This practice provides a full range of high-quality specialist-level dental treatment to all children but with a particular focus on children with special needs, disabilities and/or dental anxiety. Qualifications & experience
* Preferred: Certificate III in dental assisting or equivalent, or experience working in dental practice
* Required: Working with Children’s Check and Police Check
* Required: Australian Work Authorisation and proficiency in the English language
* Required: Demonstrated computer literacy and keyboard skills including efficiency in dental charting, note taking and email management
* Required: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; likes working with children
* Required: Proven ability to be helpful, organised and reliable
* Preferred: Current Australian Drivers Licence
Tasks & responsibilities
* Provide assistance to the dental operator and ensure patient comfort during procedures including but not limited to preparing equipment/materials, tissue retraction, operating suction, and providing instructions to the patient. Dental procedures may be performed off site in hospital or home settings
* Clean and prepare the treatment room as directed by the dental operator and ensure correct instruments, equipment and materials are available for use, including cleaning and sterilizing the instruments prior to and after treatment in accordance with The Practice's infection control policies
* Undertake administrative and customer service duties, including, but not limited to, answering the telephone, responding to emails/online enquiries, greeting patients, preparing patients for dental appointments, as well as monitoring, maintenance and re-stock of dental and office supplies
* Operate Practice Management Software including but not limited to entering patient details, scheduling patient appointments, managing patient accounts and collecting payments, in accordance with The Practice’s policies and procedures
* Understand the operation and maintenance of all dental equipment including primarily the dental chair, computer systems and digital imaging equipment, and be able to troubleshoot and assist with minor repairs or adjustments to ensure ongoing usability and optimization of the equipment
* Communicate as required with external practices including but not limited to general dentists, other dental specialists, medical practitioners, hospitals, dental laboratories and/or dental equipment companies to optimise relationships, equipment and patient care
* Provide patient care that is respectful towards individual values, customs and beliefs and build relationships with patients and their support persons in order to collaborate and provide most effective and safe patient care
* Participate in regular relevant professional development programs and training requirements
* Working hours 8.30am-5.30pm Monday-Friday but flexible options available on negotiation
