Above all, we value our people and pride ourselves in the caliber of our employees to deliver superior client outcomes, while fostering an inclusive and diverse culture for our team.About UsAs urban planning specialists, we provide advice and services in strategic planning, statutory planning, integrated land use, social planning, transport planning, urban analytics and planning tech.About the RoleSupported by knowledgeable and experienced Directors, this role is focused on providing urban planning services in one or more of the following key areas:Statutory planning, due diligence assessment and development advisoryPlanning proposals and strategic planning advisoryAbout YouYou're a high-performing driven individual who can demonstrate solid statutory and strategic urban planning knowledge while providing attentive, professional service to our valued clients.Degree qualified in relevant disciplineExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMinimum 6-8 years experience, preferably including work in both private and public planning rolesConfidence in decision making and ability to work independentlyAbility to astutely apply and articulate relevant statutory planning issuesAustralian citizen or appropriate work visaCommitment to workplace flexibility, diversity, equality and environmental sustainabilityYour Key ResponsibilitiesConsultancy ServicesEmploy a thorough understanding of statutory, strategic, and land use planning principles at a strategic and technical level to provide practical and expert planning advice to clients and the project team.Prepare, or manage, the preparation of high-quality planning reports and deliverables including but not limited to statement of environmental effects, environmental impact statements, Clause 4.6 variations, planning proposals, precinct/master plans, strategic planning reports, and expert advice and reports for the Land and Environment Court.Interact with technical professionals, the project team, and other stakeholders within multi-disciplinary planning projects.Ensure deadlines and project objectives are being achieved and meet company, client, and quality standards.Act as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court.Represent Mecone as a key team leader at client workshops/meetings and provide advice on planning matters.Maintain direct and independent contact with senior government agency staff (Council, DPHI etc) to progress planning applications and consulting work.Project and Team ManagementAbility to manage and progress projects with minimal oversight, including direct contact with client PMs.Awareness and tracking of project budgets and prepare monthly project invoices for review by Directors.Management and prioritisation of competing deadlines, alerting Directors where capacity issues are foreseeable.Provide guidance to junior staff.As required, manage team members to ensure deliverables are provided on time and within budget to client's satisfaction.As required, manage subconsultants and ensure their deliverables are meeting deadlines and project objectives.Marketing and Business DevelopmentPrepare fee proposals and tender responses.Maintain awareness of planning trends and ability to identify further work opportunities from these for existing jobs and clients.Identify business development opportunities and utilise your networks to facilitate business growth.As required, actively seek and source new business opportunities including arranging marketing meetings with potential or new clients.As required, promote the Mecone brand in business functions and professional events.
