Organisational Context
East Victoria across an area of 20,000 square kilometres. The service delivery area is bound by Corryong, Yarrawonga, Benalla, and Dartmouth. We operate 21 water treatment facilities and 22 wastewater treatment plants that service most towns across the region. Over 200 full-time equivalent staff are employed at our centres in Wodonga, Wangaratta, Benalla, Yarrawonga, Corryong, Beechworth, Mount Beauty, and Myrtleford.
Our operations are overseen by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) on behalf of the Minister for Water, and the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) on behalf of the Treasurer. We continue to invest in innovative and long-term capital projects which contribute to the health and well-being of current and future generations.

Position Objectives
The Data Analytics and Reporting Specialist:
Leading and influencing the optimal flow of data between our systems.
Driving the analysis of data to identify efficiencies.
Developing and implementing reporting to achieve regulatory and business requirements.
Driving efficiencies and improvements to business reporting to meet our internal and external requirements.
Enabling the business to achieve organisational outcomes.
Key Responsibility Areas
Overseeing the shared Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) to enable efficient use by stakeholders and multiple related business units.
Developing and adapting reporting according to requirements gathered from SME’s and regulatory agencies.
Leading the automation of manual data manipulation tasks across the organisation.
Identifying data quality and duplication issues to ensure data reliability and reporting accuracy is maintained.
Partnering with relevant stakeholders in the scoping and development of sophisticated solutions to provide outcomes that meet performance and business needs.
Leading the analysis of data to inform solutions.
Responding to emerging business needs and undertaking analysis as required.
Organisational Relationships
This role reports to the Manager Innovation and Information Security and liaises with all internal stakeholders, peers in water corporations or local government, government agencies and members of the public.

Specialist skills and knowledge

Proficient in the application of theoretical approaches in the search for solutions to new problems and opportunities.
Proficient in the use of database design, including but not limited to the development of tables and views.
Advanced SQL, ETL and Data Modelling skills.
Highly skilled in data modelling and the design and development of databases and reporting.
Knowledge and understanding of financial, asset information, geospatial and SCADA datasets.

Highly skilled at managing own time in the performance of duties and achieving goals, taking account of organisational and external constraints and opportunities.
Skilled in setting priorities to achieve goals despite conflicting pressures.

Qualifications and Experience
Extensive experience working with typical MS SQL stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), and Power BI.
Experience in working with and maintaining an enterprise data warehouse inclusive of report design and development.
Experience working with & integrating Salesforce datasets highly desirable.
Experience working with financial, asset information, geospatial and SCADA datasets.
Tertiary qualification in Business Information, Computer Science, or a related field. Alternatively, this may be acquired through other qualifications with extensive and diverse experience.
