How will I help? Working within Technology, Westpac Institution Banking (WIB) on the highly strategic Cash Management Platform project, the Solution Designer plays an important role in the development of a new portal/api and applications for the banks Corporate and Institutional clients. We are looking for top solution designers, with the ability to deliver business value first and foremost. This is a cloud native build, and you will have come from an engineering background and held designer and solution architecture roles in the past. If you have not coded for more than 5 years, then this is not the role for you. You will work closely with Lead engineer and architects to drive the solution design. You will have superior people and communication skills, working with other Solutions Designers, Engineers, Architects and Squad Facilitator to drive the outcome. You will have a strong understanding of banking. Expect to be grilled on banking concepts in your interview as much as technology questions, from retail to corporate banking. We are looking for self-starters that can work within and add value to the team. The team will only have strong onshore team members based in Sydney, with a minimum of 2 set days per week in the office. As a Solutions Designer you will be accountable for end-to-end design to support the technical architecture definition and your responsibilities will include: Lead alignment of end-to-end design developed by different teams and ensure that it meets business requirements and aligns to technical solution architecture Lead the escalation and resolution management of issues identified in design and test that cross solution/application boundaries Evaluate risks to the integrity of solutions including availability, performance, servicing and compliance of the business and technology services impacted Lead the review of work (individual and team) and provide guidance, advice and assistance to less experienced colleagues as required What’s in it for me? To be set up for success in this role, you will be able to demonstrate: Strong experience in applications development: 7 years + in software development and minimum 4 years in solution design Proven experience in systems integration including microservices, UI and/or API and batch integration design and development Must have a very technical background with a strong understanding of Cloud technologies Must have banking of financial services experience. End to end design – exposure to channels, reconciliation, servicing applications Excellent verbal and written communication skills Payments industry experience Interpersonal skills that enable you to work with people at all levels, motivate others and change people's attitudes when necessary. Mentoring and provide leadership to developers to promote best practices. Written and spoken communication skills that allow you to inform and advise others clearly.
