About the Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) Unit A Place for compassionate care : The GEM Unit offers specialised care of older people, with a focus on comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment and management of medical, physical, psychological and social issues associated with the ageing process. Our 20-bed unit is located at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) in the Bolte Wing. Our nursing team is pivotal to the success of the broader, high performing interdisciplinary team, achieving ambitious outcomes while supporting the flow of patients throughout the broader organisation. We are a vital part of SVHM’s Subacute & Community Services, a key clinical program of SVHM and the broader St Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA) Public Hospital division.
