Due to our announced expansion, we have a need for experienced like-minded professionals to join our team. Thomas Embling Hospital is a secure Mental Health hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation, and continuing care programs.About the Role:The role of the therapeutic program assistant (TPA) is to support the work of the therapeutic program coordinator and perform duties as requested. The TPA will assist the therapeutic program coordinator to coordinate the therapeutic programs at T.E.H.The TPA will provide administrative support to the therapeutic program coordinator through timetabling, promotional material creation and distribution, and database creation and management. In addition, the TPA will have direct contact with patients including escorting patients to sessions and providing some co-facilitation when required. The TPA will keep records of patients' attendance to programs and pre and post assessments and evaluation.Duties:Assist the therapeutic program coordinator to coordinate and deliver programs at T.E.H.Assist the therapeutic program coordinator to develop and oversee systems for referral, attendance management, data collection, levels of group participation and recording.Assist the therapeutic program coordinator to design a system and packages to evaluate therapeutic programs.With the therapeutic program coordinator design and develop a therapeutic group program timetable.With the therapeutic program coordinator design and develop resources, posters and brochures to market group programs.Communicate with patients directly and provide escorts to group programs when required.Take minutes at meetings, record and distribute when required.Provide support and information to clinical teams about therapeutic programs.Assist the therapeutic program coordinator at induction, training and professional development sessions.About You:Experience and/or understanding of an administrative role including relevant skills to undertake the role.Understanding of the therapeutic coordinator assistant role and ability to work within this role in the multi-disciplinary framework.Knowledge and understanding of the needs of mentally ill patients and awareness of the issues of provision of care in a forensic environment.Ability to establish positive working relationships with patients through establishing rapport.Ability to motivate and facilitate patient participation in a broad range of therapeutic programs, including group work while providing support and supervision as appropriate.What you need:Full or partial completion of a qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Certificate or Diploma in disability support, mental health support, allied health assistant, welfare, or similar) OR willingness to work towards such a qualification via professional development and formal courses while in the position.
