The Financial Service business unit, led by the Group CFO, partners with all areas of the Commonwealth Bank to provide financial control function and specialist advice on financial management and strategy. This advice covers finance, audit, treasury, investor relations, security and property.
The FS Analytics Crew supports Financial Service divisions and broader Analytical Communities through data driven analytics and insights to optimise business process and performance, proactively identify opportunities to drive world class technology solution for strategic decision making.

As a Business Analyst in the Risks and Controls Squad, you will work closely with the Chapter Lead Data as the data steward for general ledger data in the Group's data warehouse. You will partner with stakeholders across all of the financial services, ensuring that the reporting data requirements are not only met, however ingested from strategic platforms. You will be expected to be an active contributor within the greater finance and group analytics communities to grow and promote BI within the organisation.
Key responsibilities
Partner with the broader finance team to understand how to better support the transition off legacy data.
Assess and classify new and existing data assets to determine appropriate data classification levels.
Review and approve access requests, maintaining strict access control protocols.
Manage and enforce governance policies for financial services data roles, ensuring compliance with data governance standards.
Conduct and oversee User Access Reviews (UARs) to ensure proper access management and compliance with data governance policies.
Drive accountability to ensure consistent, quality, and timely solutions.
Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset by challenging the status quo to evolve and improve our services offerings.

Experience with general ledger systems and reporting skills e.g. Flash, journal postings, preparation of month end packs and financial control.
Detail-oriented and experienced with documenting using tools like Confluence.
Good communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
Comfortable user of SQL for querying and manipulating large data sets.
High-level familiarity with data warehouses and data lakes.
Have demonstrable curiosity and willingness to continuously learn about both business and technology.
Strong business acumen with analytical mindset.
Experience with analytics tools such as Tableau / Alteryx / PowerBI or similar.
Strong understanding of financial services, accounting background.
