Work alongside Traditional Owners to manage their spiritual lands. Help protect, manage and present parks and forests in the Nebo work unit.This job is diverse and collaborative, and offers a mix of office and field-based work - with a particular focus on the delivery of conservation management priorities.If you are motivated and energetic, and enjoy diverse and meaningful work, this position would suit you.As Ranger in Charge, You Willmanage the day-to-day operations of the work unitdevelop and implement operational plans consistent with business plans, strategies, policies and proceduresmanage and supervise staff, contractors and volunteers - including the management of performance issuesgrow your and your team's skills and capabilitiesmanage the work unit budget and expenditureundertake projects to achieve set operational and conservation objectivesensure employee and visitor safetyrespond to critical incidentsundertake visitor, fire and pest management activitiesimplement and enforce legislation administered by the Departmentestablish partnerships that assist operations and achieve objectives and outcomes of the regional business plancommunicate regularly with stakeholders, community groups and visitors to create a greater understanding and appreciation of the Department and its rolenegotiate with stakeholders, neighbours and community groups to achieve acceptable resolution of local land management issuesperform other assigned duties at the classification level within your competence and training.Minimum Requirements: It is essential that you hold a manual driver's licence. While you do not need any tertiary qualifications, a formal qualification in a relevant discipline will be highly regarded; as will a certification to use agricultural chemicals and poisons and possession of a Queensland firearms licence.The Ranger in Charge needs to be well-organised, resourceful and able to travel and willing to build and sustain meaningful relationships.
