The opportunity:
Are you passionate about advancing healthcare through data-driven research? We invite you to be a part of the Motion Connect Team in an exciting opportunity to contribute to a nationally funded MRFF research data infrastructure project. Our mission is to enhance orthopaedic surgery outcomes for children with cerebral palsy and gait pathology across Australia and New Zealand.
In this role, you will support the Hugh Williamson Gait Analysis Laboratory at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne by developing and refining workflows for our national databank. You'll engage with diverse data types—from clinical measures to motion capture gait analysis—and play a key role in ensuring data quality and accuracy.
Your responsibilities include:
1. Process clinical gait analysis data using an OpenSim workflow.
2. Implement robust quality control measures to detect missing data and outliers, with comprehensive documentation.
3. Review retrospective gait analysis data to resolve inconsistencies.
4. Develop Python scripts to automate workflows and enhance efficiency.
5. Prepare research data and documentation for publication.
6. Uphold the highest ethical research standards in accordance with the Australian Code for Responsible Conduct of Research.
7. Participate in professional development and contribute to campus culture.
What we need from you:
8. A relevant qualification or experience in Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Human Movement Science, or a related field.
9. Knowledge of motion capture, biomechanics, and gait analysis.
10. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, and Git.
11. Experience with clinical datasets is a plus.
12. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
13. Ability to apply statistical methods for effective data analysis.
14. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
15. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
16. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
17. Familiarity with research methodologies and their application.
