This includes proactive engagement with and monitoring of firms and the sector overall. The team coordinates and provides strategic direction, industry knowledge, and technical expertise for ASIC's work in these sectors.The team conducts analysis, research, proactive supervision, monitoring, and engagement work (with a view to appropriate regulatory outcomes), considers applications for relief from legislative requirements, provides specialist support to regulatory reform activities, and actively engages with relevant stakeholders regularly to understand and respond to current and emerging industry issues. The team provides assistance to other teams within ASIC to enable them to carry out their roles, especially compliance and enforcement action.The Indigenous Outreach Program (IOP) is also within the Credit, Banking & General Insurance team, focusing on consumer protection issues for Indigenous consumers.The roleAs an Analyst/Lawyer, you will:Conduct risk-based supervision to ensure legal adherence.Participate in thematic reviews and develop solutions to regulatory issues.Utilize data effectively for priority delivery and insights.Support policy and law reform with new guidance, training, and systems.Assist in identifying and implementing regulatory strategies and interventions.Identify and assist in law reform projects.Review applications for legislative relief and prepare legal instruments.Assess products, services, and sector risks.Maintain knowledge of ASIC's regulatory framework, legislation, and best practices.Write reports, presentations, and briefings for senior management and external stakeholders.Support and participate in planning and delivering meetings with stakeholders and provide high-quality advice and prepare clear reports, discussion papers, and correspondence.Collaborate with other ASIC teams to support enforcement and compliance actions and manage sector-specific law reform projects with RR&I.About youHold a relevant tertiary qualification.Bring experience in advising on complex transactions or projects, showcasing your critical thinking and judgment skills from the industry, legal firm, or regulatory environment.Possess detailed knowledge of the sector, legislative requirements, and key issues, or ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.Strong understanding of ASIC's regulatory environment.Experience analysing quantitative and qualitative data and ability to present information to various audiences.Understanding the benefits of strategic relationships with strong conceptual, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.Experience assessing, verifying, and challenging complex information.Understand priorities and meet deadlines.Strong writing and editing skills and confident in engaging and asking probing questions.About ASICASIC's remit is one of the broadest of regulators across the world.
