Primary Function This is a full-time role on a one-year fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension. Based at our Olympic Park, Sydney offices, working hours will generally be in the afternoon and evening, depending on livestream production schedules. We are seeking a talented and experienced Technical Director to lead our live broadcast efforts, specifically for the product team, to ensure seamless delivery of high-quality broadcasts. As the Director of our Live Broadcast Studio, you will lead and oversee all aspects of live broadcasting production, from initial concept through to execution. You will manage a team of producers, engineers, creatives, and technicians to deliver seamless, high-impact live events that reflect our clients' goals and brand vision. Your leadership will be key to driving the innovation and creativity behind every broadcast, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of the ever-evolving digital landscape. Duties and Responsibilities Lead and manage the live broadcast studio team, including producers, technical staff, creatives, and project managers. Set clear objectives and foster a collaborative and innovative work culture. Oversee the planning, production, and execution of live broadcasts, ensuring content is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This includes corporate events, product launches, virtual conferences, live streams, and other digital experiences. Act as the main point of contact for clients during the production process. Work closely with account managers and clients to understand their vision, ensuring the broadcast meets their expectations and requirements. Drive creative ideas for live broadcast experiences, keeping up-to-date with industry trends and technology to push the boundaries of what’s possible. Ensure all live content aligns with brand standards and objectives. Oversee the technical execution of live broadcasts, working closely with engineers to ensure smooth operation of equipment, platforms, and streaming tools. Troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions quickly. Foster the growth of the studio team through mentorship and training opportunities. Provide guidance and support to ensure team members are working efficiently and staying up-to-date with industry developments. Develop and manage the budget for live broadcast projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost-effective solutions. Review and evaluate live broadcast performance with the team and clients. Offer insights and recommendations for future broadcasts to continually improve the experience and results. Qualifications and Experience Minimum 7+ years of experience in live broadcast production, including 3+ years minimum in a leadership role. Proven track record of managing live broadcasts for large-scale events and digital campaigns. Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Production, Media Studies, Digital Media, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience is desirable. Proficient in industry-standard software such as OBS Studio, vMix, Wirecast, or other live streaming platforms. Familiarity with cloud-based broadcast solutions, remote production workflows, and the latest broadcast technologies. Personal Attributes Strong leadership and people management skills. In-depth knowledge of live broadcast production technologies, including cameras, lighting, streaming software, and post-production tools. Excellent communication and client relationship management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive under pressure.
