The Opportunity
As a Senior Policy Officer, you will play a pivotal role in driving evidence-based policies and strategies to enhance the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Reporting to the Assistant Director, SEWB Policy Partnership, you will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to deliver impactful policy recommendations and reports.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Policy Development: Analyse trends, challenges, and opportunities to develop high-quality policy papers, briefs, and submissions that align with organisational objectives.
* Research and Evidence: Lead research initiatives, critically analysing literature, policy documents, and data to provide evidence-based insights for policy development.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, government agencies, and NGOs, to gather insights and foster consensus.
* Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and briefings that clearly communicate policy positions and research findings to inform decision-making.
* Project Management: Plan, manage, and deliver projects from inception to evaluation, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and timely completion.
* Policy Guidance and Mentoring: Provide expertise and advice on policy matters, offering guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
* Continuous Improvement: Stay informed of emerging trends and best practices to enhance policy development processes and outcomes.
