Want to bring ideas to life?
As an engineer you’re no doubt aware of Aurecon – we’ve been a leading design, engineering and advisory company for decades. But why should you choose to join us?
Every project Aurecon delivers leaves a legacy. Every project has sustainability embedded in decision making. And every project is at the leading-edge of technical eminence.
But it really comes down to one, crucial question: what kind of world do you want to create for the next generation? Truth is, the decisions being made right now will determine the future of everything – from the local community to the entire planet. One of those decisions is: who do you decide to work for?
What will you do?
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Lead/Principal Process Engineer to join our NSW & ACT Water Team where you will act as a key member of a highly skilled and diverse team. This is a senior-level position, suitable for Senior engineers looking to take the next step into a role focussing on technical eminence and client partnerships. The primary purpose of this role is to lead the delivery of water, wastewater, and/or recycled water treatment solutions for Aurecon’s clients such as Sydney Water.
You will be a key member that will ‘bring ideas to life’ through a combination of technical skills, experience and innovation.
In your new role you will:
1. Lead challenging and complex water and wastewater projects across the entire lifecycle including planning, options development, design, and construction.
2. Champion delivery of sustainable and Future Ready water infrastructure projects, focusing on innovation, circular economy, and carbon net zero.
3. Lead delivery and produce process simulations, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), design documents, including reports, and specifications as well as written documents and presentations.
4. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
5. Apply your communication and people leadership skills to lead effective conversations with our clients and stakeholders to solve their complex issues in a technically-sound and commercially viable manner.
6. Develop and maintain strong internal and external networks and lead business development opportunities including tender responses.
7. Participate in industry organisations and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations in water and wastewater engineering and pump station design.
What can you bring to the team?
You will share our genuine passion for re-imagining engineering and be someone that actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future. On a technical level, you will have hands on experience in Process Engineering in the water industry, ideally in water and wastewater treatment, recycled and/or advanced treatment. You will have strong knowledge in treatment planning, design, and design management.
You will be degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or similar and have at least 7-10 years’ experience in a similar role and ideally be a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Australia. Having Sydney Water Competency is highly desirable.
Additionally, you will showcase your strong internal and external stakeholder management experience, a can-do attitude and importantly a strong team player who works well in an agile and collaborative environment.

Our describe the types of people we bring together for clients. We don’t expect you to have all eight of the attributes, but one that is unique to you.
Think you know Aurecon? You may be surprised.
Aurecon’s strength has always been our people. It’s our people who build our shared purpose and bring ideas to life.
