Job Description of Senior Engineer in Sydney:
The Senior Engineer (L2) Windows, Exchange and Virtualization will be responsible for providing level 2 operations support to our global clients on Virtualization, Windows, hardware configuration, and management platform.
Main Duties:
Administer, maintain, and support a large complex Windows, Active Directory, IIS, multi-platform Virtualization environment that includes multiple clusters, UCSB and C class, HP Blade, and Dell servers.
Conduct level 2 troubleshooting activities (if required, also level 3) in a thorough and systematic manner.
Perform root cause analysis for issues and provide workarounds to ensure business continuity.
Hands-on experience in configuring Cisco UCS and HP Blade matrix in a large production setup.
Identify, analyze, and resolve problems specifically on Virtualization, and in general cross-platform involving storage.
Change Management: Prepare implementation plan, rollback plan, and test plan, risk and impact analysis for changes. Review the change plan and documentation prepared by peers.
Assist in the creation of processes and procedures required for service delivery.
Perform routine, planned, and emergency maintenance (change planning and implementation) of Windows and Virtualization devices.
Ensure all devices are added into the monitoring system with all required parameters.
Fulfill service requests.
Harden operating system parameters in line with client/Dimension Data security policy, standards, or best practices.
Availability and capacity planning and management: keep track of uptime and capacity utilization of production clusters and client devices and publish reports to management.
Perform hardware and software upgrades on ESXi servers and Virtual environments.
Execute additional tasks given to meet internal IT project milestones and willingness to put in additional hours whenever required.
Ensure all services are delivered as per agreed SLAs/OLAs, quality, and scope.
Update and close tickets, update documents (such as handover documents, root cause analysis, analysis and recommendations to reports, post-incident reviews) in a timely manner with high quality.
Communicate with and log calls with vendors or 3rd parties where necessary to resolve issues and product bugs.
Suggest, influence, and implement improvements in the environment (such as issue optimization, automation, streamlining processes, etc.), thereby contributing to the improvement of overall operations delivery and client satisfaction.
Should have knowledge of ITIL processes.
Should be flexible to learn new technologies and shifts.
Good communication skills and the ability to work with several groups on assigned projects both regionally and globally.
Exchange Admin with knowledge in Advanced Administration of Exchange Server 2010/213 and Lync 2013 with good understanding of Mail-flow/SMTP, Monitoring, Reporting, Integration with different technologies, and Exchange Server Migration activities.
Working Knowledge of Exchange server, Software, service pack installation, troubleshooting various server-related issues, troubleshooting NDRs, tracking emails, etc.
Day-to-day operation of Lync/Exchange environments, including change, release, performance, and availability management.
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex enterprise-level issues and outages.
Knowledge of Powershell and scripting to run and understand scripts to modify and add for message tracking and other administrative functions.
Proven knowledge of O365, Microsoft Exchange, and Active Directory.
Troubleshooting and Configuration of O365, Exchange, and Active Directory.
Excellent knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, VMWare, Hardware, and Networks.
Excellent knowledge of processes and tools utilized for system management, problem reporting, change management, and support tools.
Excellent technical troubleshooting, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Sound knowledge of Email clients like Microsoft Outlook and OWA.
Backup/Recovery: Working knowledge on Setup and Configuration of native & 3rd party backup management tools.
Out Of Hours server reboots & checks.
Vendor Management (hardware and Software vendors HP, Dell, MS, VM, Citrix, and others).
Typically requires 6-8 years of relevant experience.
