Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Casual Traffic Reporter to join our team, as we expand the Nine Traffic Network (NTN) coverage. As a Casual Traffic Reporter, you will get the opportunity to work across a variety of our Shows, and our Newsroom, as you support them with regular live Traffic updates and reports.
This role will require full availability to work from mid December 2024 to mid January 2025 with ongoing adhoc shifts to cover annual leave and sick leave.
Day to day, you will report to the 2GB Operations Lead, and your duties will include but are not limited to the below:
1. Researching, writing and voicing regular live traffic reports within our programs and news services.
2. Go live-to-air with detailed traffic reports and advice for listeners during major traffic events
3. Edit and upload regular traffic reports for 2GB’s digital and supplementary platforms
4. Maintain a relationship with related services, including Emergency Services, toll road operators and the Transport Management Centre
5. Cross-checking all material for accuracy and ensuring content is legally sound
6. Provide support to 2GB’s Producers, Presenters and News Director
7. Work with our News and Digital content teams to ensure consistency among our content
8. Available to work on a regular basis either on Saturday or Sunday 6:30am to 1:15pm and Midday to 7:30pm over summer period
Qualifications
You will have the energy and enthusiasm to embrace our audience and promptly attend to the needs of our most valuable assets: our listeners.
You will also have:
9. Detailed knowledge of Sydney’s roads and transport network
10. Audio recording and editing skills
11. Knowledge of news and current affairs
12. Experience in radio or other news media
13. Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills
14. Strong communication and broadcast-writing skills
15. The capacity to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-focused environment
16. Have a sound understanding of media and broadcast law
17. Most importantly, a team player!
