Due to company expansion in the engineering and delivery team, Bison Energy is seeking the expertise of a Solar Electrical Engineer. Mainly supporting the existing engineering department, you will possess the skills of electrical and mechanical design functions for C&I, utility scale solar farms and standalone battery systems and electrical upgrade projects.
Responsibilities Design of solar grid connection applications. Design of DC electrical systems, including PV module string designs, DC cable selection, inverter DC input analysis and selection of protection devices. Design of AC electrical systems, including voltage drop/rise calculations, AC cable selection and protection devices. Mechanical design using different racking systems to suit roof and ground mount profiles and structures. Design cable management systems and inverter stations. Produce mechanical and electrical drawings using CAD. Generate Bill of Materials. On-going communication with development and project management teams, electricians and external engineering consultants. Complete site-surveys to verify electrical infrastructure, and installation plans. Ideal Candidate CEC (SAA) Grid Connected PV Design Accreditation. Minimum 1-2 years experience working in the Utility solar design and installations. Electrical Engineering qualifications. Fluent in AutoCAD, PVSyst & Helioscope. Solid understanding of PV System components, Engineering, and operations. Knowledge of DNSPs grid protection requirements and electrical specifications. Knowledge of AS3000, AS3008, AS4777, AS5033, CEC (SAA) guidelines and other relevant standards and frameworks. Attention to detail and willing to learn. Time management and organisational skills. The ability to travel on occasions. Support the development team with new enquiries and applications. Bison Energy is a privately owned Renewable Energy Developer/ EPC with a Solar & BESS pipeline across Australia and New Zealand. The suitable candidate will ideally be based in the Albury/ Wodonga region; however, there are no limits to on-site working locations as the role could take you across Aus/NZ regions.
