What you’ll do The purpose of this role is to build market leading data products and services. Reporting to the Data Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in designing, building and maintaining our data products, pipelines and infrastructure.This role will work on a number of new initiatives, working on projects from end to end and play a key role in setting up best practices within Data Engineering at Cartology. You will be able to take a technical lead role on projects and provide guidance and mentorship to more junior members of the team.Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Designing and delivering data infrastructure and solutions in GCP including data models, ETL pipelines, warehousing using various tools e.g. dbt, Bigquery, Looker, Dataflow, Fivetran, Cloud Composer etc.Optimise and troubleshoot data products and toolingCollaborate with stakeholders such as sales, marketing, product, finance, analytics and others to ensure capabilities are built effectively to solve user problemsImplement and maintain best practices for data governance, data security, data quality and integrity for all data assetsSupport data analysis and reporting activities through data tooling, data access patterns, data visualisation, query and report optimisationStaying current with industry trends and best practices and sharing this knowledge with the broader technical teamsMentoring junior team members to ensure their continued growth What you’ll bring Strong SQL, Python and data modelling skills with demonstrated success in designing and building complex data infrastructure and pipelinesSolid knowledge of software engineering concepts and best practices.Experience building meaningful dashboards in a modern BI tool (e.g. Looker, Tableau, PowerBI etc)Extensive experience building ETL pipelines and modelling data for both BI and Data Product consumption.Demonstrable experience in building solutions in cloud platforms (GCP Preferred)Technical understanding of modern cloud based data warehousing e.g BigQuery, Snowflake etc.Experience working with large volumes of data and transforming it for optimal business use.Experience in the media industry including digital media is highly desirable.Experience in retail and e-commerce is beneficial, but not essential.
