Classification: APS Level 6Location: Canberra, ACTSalary: $101,322 - $110,006The RoleWe are looking for a network engineer to join the team responsible for the support and maintenance of Austrade's global IT network.
Austrade's network provides services to staff in approximately 60 locations in over 50 countries and needs to be supported 24x7.
Our network is adopting a cloud first approach with a goal of reducing our on-premise footprint.
This role will provide opportunity to contribute to these projects.
The role is primarily focussed on operational maintenance of the environment, responding to incidents and service requests but will also involve project work to implement new digital services and enhance Austrade's network services.
This role will require working weekends and outside of normal business hours as well as the ability to provide on-call support.
Duties IncludePerforming day-to-day level 2 and 3 support and administration activities for a global network including responding to system faults, configuration updates, monitoring system health and maintaining disaster recovery manuals.Installation, configuration and maintenance of Cisco and Fortinet hardware and software platforms to provide Data Centre Networking, SDWAN, VPN Remote Access and WiFi.Identifying and providing technical details for implementing system improvements, both within and outside formal projects.Researching, evaluating and implementing new hardware, software and processes for the development, management and support of Austrade's corporate communication networks and making recommendations for the acquisition of relevant goods or services.Managing system upgrades and following ISM guidelines to maintain Maturity Level 2 security posture.Ensuring network service documentation and standard operating procedures are up to date and relevant.Participation in an on-call roster to respond to urgent issues after hours.Working as part of the Austrade's Information Technology Service team to contribute to service delivery while supporting the practice of diversity in the workplace, ethical practice and occupational health and safety principles.Given our commitment to diversity and inclusion, Austrade actively encourages applications from people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ people, women, and people with diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds for all of our roles.
