About the Role:Maxima's valued client is looking for an experienced Lawyer for a temporary assignment.
This temporary role is full time hours for 6 months, Monday to Friday.
Paying $60.29/hr (casual) + Super, the responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: Assist in the provision of appropriate legal advice and legal drafting services to business areas and in instructing external legal service providers.
Contribute to building of awareness and understanding amongst staff of key legal and commercial issues and their application to the business, including participation in decision-making or project management as required.
Liaise with the all management levels and officers regarding the management of FOI requests and the timely identification, compilation and scheduling of documents.
Manage and determine FOI requests within statutory or agreed timeframes.
Conduct third party consultations with parties whose interests may be affected by the release of documents.
Attend to consultations in respect of documents concerning the business Coordinate internal reviews requests for the consideration of the Chief Executive.
Assist the SA Ombudsman or the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal conduct external reviews of FOI determinations.
Provide responses to third parties regarding potential release of documents held by third parties.
About You: Appropriate tertiary qualifications in law / legal practice.
Admission to practice law in South Australia and a current practising certificate.
Highly developed communication skills.
Knowledge of and experience in FOI processes and procedures.
Experience and ability in reviewing complex information to arrive at reasoned and defensible conclusions.
Experience in dealing diplomatically but assertively with members of the public, senior personnel and colleagues.
Experience in advising on legislative and compliance issues.
Demonstrated self-management skills and capacity to work autonomously and independently.
