About the RoleBarnardos are looking for a Case Manager for a full-time 12 month contract to join the Foster Care Program based in Bruce, 2617The Case Manager will be responsible for; Supporting the implementation of children's therapeutic care plans Undertaking Permanency Assessments for children moving towards adoption and/or Enduring Parental Responsibility Orders; and Therapeutic Reviews for children in out of home care. Mediating and negotiate with children and young people and their birth families, ensuring a sense of identity is developed consistently over time Promoting placement stability wherever possible Assessing the needs of the carer and the child/young person in their care Devising care plans and coordinate with all parties involved Meeting with children in care separately to their carers regularly in accordance with program procedures Developing and maintaining relationships with all involved in a child's life Building a child's life (including cultural) story by implementing the MyStory case management system with all children and young people in care and related administration and record keeping Visiting carers and/or children in their care regularly (based on assessed need, consultation with the Program Manager and in accordance with the standards outlined in program procedures). Liaising with relevant government departments and other agencies on behalf of clients About YouAs a Case Manager, you will ideally have; An appropriate qualification such as Social Work, Psychology, Education or equivalent that is recognised in Australia Two years previous experience in the child welfare field Demonstrated knowledge and skills in working with families and promoting family-centred strength-based practices. Demonstrated case management experience including a complex/competing caseload. Sound knowledge of child protection and issues in relation to children at risk particularly in regards to their safety, development, and connection to family, culture and community. Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, communication and consultation skills enabling successful negotiation, conflict resolution, liaison and marketing which includes the ability to credibly represent Barnardos in any forum Ability to liaise with families, foster carers and professionals and to advocate for children and carers whilst maintaining strong working relationships. Ability to prepare complex assessment reports and intervention skills.
