Covering an area of approximately 300,000 square kilometres and servicing many of the remote communities within North-Western Queensland and the Gulf of Carpentaria, the North West Hospital and Health Service (NWHHS) is responsible for the health promotion and wellbeing of people within the service area and ensuring that effective, high quality services are accessible to all.
This role:
You will deliver direct midwifery care in a continuity of care antenatal and postnatal model to women and their families within a rural community. Women and families may choose to birth in the Mount Isa Hospital or another birthing facility. Intrapartum care will be provided by the maternity service where they birth. Your ability to build connective partnerships will be essential to your success in the role.
Requirements:
1. While not mandatory, there is an expectation that applicants will possess or be working towards a post graduate qualification in the specialty clinical duties.
2. Proof of qualification, registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and possession of a current annual practising certificate are mandatory requirements for this role.
3. Class C Motor Vehicle Licence endorsement is required.
4. This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role.

Fixed term temporary full-time role for up to 12 months. Monday to Friday.
5. Salary range between $4138.10 - $4431.10 p.f. (Nurse Grade 6-Band 1)

Normanton is a small community situated on the banks of the Norman River in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Fishing and prawning industries are the mainstay of the area, along with tourism. The Traditional Owners of the Normanton area are the Gkuthaarn, Kukatj, and Kurtijar peoples. Normanton is accessible via a network of sealed and unsealed roads. Some roads may be closed during the wet season between December and March. A sealed airstrip provides year round access to the community.
