Your new role
* Utilising your strong experience as a Mechanical Engineer working on defence and/or maritime projects, you will play a pivotal role in supporting team across development, design and integration activities.
* Lead development, design, and integration activities.
* Provide expert guidance on mechanical, marine engineering, and systems integration.
* Identify and mitigate design risks to protect project timelines, budget, and quality.
* Serve as the primary technical contact with external stakeholders to address design inquiries and resolve issues.
* Evaluate and implement design changes, assessing their impact on scope, schedule, and cost.
* Ensure accurate documentation of design decisions and specifications.
* Provide design and progress reports as required.
* Offer feedback and escalation paths to team members.
* Lead and coordinate design and technical issue resolution.
* Manage defence client interfaces and relationships.
What you'll need to succeed
* Australian Citizenship is mandatory due to defence related security requirements (existing clearance is a bonus!).
* Solid experience in a senior Mechanical engineering role within the defence and/or maritime and/or shipbuilding industry.
* Relevant degree-level tertiary qualifications.
* In-depth knowledge of naval vessel design regulations, standards, and best practices.
* Experience in Defence contracting and military/government project documentation standards.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Ability to develop system documents, process standards, and high-level reports.
* Familiarity with design software, simulation tools, and project management methodologies.
* Ability to develop technical documents, manuals, and drawings.
* Understanding of military and government project documentation standards.
* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in a dynamic environment.
