About the role Caring for the elderly in their homes allows you to spend one on one time with our diverse clients. You might be required to help with their personal care or home care duties throughout the day or help them connect with their community through activities and appointments. With numerous clients living in their own home MiCare requires experienced Carer/Support Worker to deliver a range of aged care ‘Support at Home’ services. Each persons’ needs are unique therefore services vary from support with personal care, light housework, meal preparation, shopping, transport to appointments, community engagement and respite care. Some of the main responsibilities include: Safely and respectfully assist with personal care and household tasks as outlined in the Clients Care Plan and Task List Assist clients with facilitating transport, and community access as required Document tasks performed and other relevant information as required by the program guidelines Report and document specific client changes and detreating health or other service delivery issues to the Service Coordinators/Care Manager Work as an effective team member attending all relevant meetings and training sessions Support the implementation, adherence and review of a client’s care plan/task list About you You will have a flexible, caring, patient attitude and an ability to work in a professional and proficient manner. Qualifications /Registrations Cert III in Aged Care or Equivalent/higher (preferred but not essential) Current First Aid and CPR certificates Qld driver licence, insured & roadworthy vehicle Smartphone, access to computer/device Skills & Experience A true passion and ability to support clients in their home Knowledge of the ageing process and of Home Care services and programs Able to demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the difficulties experienced by frail elderly people living at home in a community setting Ability to work with minimal supervision and report concerns promptly to the service coordinators or care managers The ability or willingness to speak or learn another language, and have an understanding of the different cultures and history Previous experience in working in an aged care community and/or residential setting advantageous but not essential A police check with no disclosable outcome is required by MiCare for this role. As per Government directions, current medicare evidence of influenza and full COVID-19 vaccination, including dose 3 are required by MiCare for this position.
