About the role
The Corporate Affairs Manager will be responsible for shaping and delivering the external and internal corporate affairs strategy for Loam Bio. This role includes overseeing public relations, corporate messaging, government and industry engagement, and stakeholder communications. The successful candidate will drive initiatives that build the company’s position as a leader in soil carbon sequestration, microbiology innovations, and climate-focused agricultural technologies. They will be in a position to support the senior leadership across the organisation with major internal initiatives.
The Corporate Affairs Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including scientific, commercial, and carbon teams, to ensure that our strategy is cohesive, impactful, and aligned with our mission. This role will also focus on building partnerships and supporting initiatives internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities
External Communications and Media Relations: Develop and implement a proactive corporate media strategy that enhances Loam Bio’s profile as a leader in soil carbon and climate-smart agricultural solutions. Manage relationships with PR support, journalists, media outlets, and industry publications. Draft and distribute press releases and corporate content.
Internal Communications: Lead internal communications to ensure alignment across departments, fostering a strong organisational culture around sustainability and innovation. Develop materials and initiatives that engage employees and promote understanding of Loam strategic goals.
Government and Industry Relations: Engage with government agencies and policymakers to advocate for favourable policies and regulations in carbon markets, agricultural sustainability, and biotechnology. Build and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders, including agricultural bodies, retailers, and carbon project partners. Monitor relevant policy developments and advise senior leadership on potential impacts to the business.
Stakeholder Communications: Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including investors, corporate partners, and customers. Ensure consistent messaging and clear communication of Loam Bio’s mission, technological innovations, and impact in the industry.
Issues Management: Prepare and manage communication strategies in response to any potential reputational risks or issues, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
Support Initiatives Management: Serve as a project support for short-term high-impact corporate initiatives, ensuring engaging stakeholders are engaged and communications on progress are completed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, Environmental Science, or related fields.
5+ years of experience in corporate communications, public affairs, or related roles, ideally in the agritechnology, agriculture, or sustainability sectors.
Strong understanding of climate change policies, carbon markets, and agricultural sustainability.
Demonstrated ability to manage media relations, including press releases and media engagement.
Experience working with government stakeholders, industry associations, and advocacy groups.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex scientific and technological concepts for a range of audiences.
Preferred Skills
Experience in carbon markets or environmental policy advocacy.
Knowledge of agricultural practices, microbiology, or biotechnology.
Strong project management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Demonstrated leadership in driving corporate social responsibility initiatives.
