Senior Controls and Instrumentation Engineer

Energys is looking to engage a highly skilled and motivated Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, installing, and maintaining the instrumentation and controls systems that meet project requirements and industry standards.
Position Objectives
As a key member of the controls team, you will provide technical guidance and automation expertise for the design engineering of green hydrogen applications in Australia and globally. This role will be pivotal in advancing our automation engineering capabilities and ensuring the continuous improvement of control wiring activities.
Role Responsibilities:
* Develop and improve our control system including but not limited to cause and effect diagrams, control philosophies, functional descriptions, logic diagrams, software and communication network, FAT and SAT documentation.
* Possess advanced practical knowledge in controls and automation engineering.
* Experience in control wiring and integration with other systems.
* Proficient in object-oriented programming and design.
As part of our commitment to excellence, the Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer will focus on enhancing control wiring activities to keep Energys products at the forefront of technology and customer satisfaction. Daily activities will include:
* Programming of PLCs and user interfaces and development of software packages for PLCs.
* The creation of client documentation including operator/user instructions and SOPs.
* Working with suppliers to grow knowledge of their systems for integration use in projects.
* Start up, commissioning and fault-finding equipment for our clients and supporting them remotely as required.
* Liaising and coordinating, as appropriate, with other disciplines involved on the project (internal and external) to exchange related technical, budget and schedule details.
* Ensuring that the system design takes into consideration all interfaces with other disciplines – mechanical, process and Electrical.
* Ensuring design solution compliance with project’s technical offer, client’s specification, relevant standards and regulations, budget and project schedule.
We are looking for the following experience:
* Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline recognised by Engineering Australia.
* A minimum of 7 years experience in controls with at least 5 years of experience in implementation of controls systems for industries such as Oil and Gas, or Mining and Chemical Industrial Process.
* Registered on the National Engineering Register.
* Registered as a RPEQ or the ability to obtain.
* Working knowledge of safety control systems (eg. AS4024).
* Site experience with the ability to go to sites for installation / commissioning as required.
* Preferred experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT.
* A drive for “outside-the-box” innovative thinking with a proven track record of ongoing improvement to systems and processes.
* Capable of working independently and part of a cross-functional team demonstrating the ability to influence and create alignment across multiple functional areas.
* A desire for continuous improvement of software.
* Debugging and field bus protocols experience.
* Knowledge in machine learning (not required, but preferred).
* Knowledge of Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) systems.
