Job Description
We're hiring a Principal Program Manager for Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) in Melbourne. You'll manage our risk-mitigation strategy and uphold the highest safety standards across our network. Reporting to the Senior WHS Country Leader, you'll collaborate with various teams to drive safety initiatives.
Key Job Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify risks and improve WHS standards.
2. Conduct WHS regulatory research and promote a safety-focused culture.
3. Stay attuned to changing regulations and internal WHS performance to change standards when required.
4. Measure business and site performance against published requirements in WHS standards. For all deficiencies, ensure plans are implemented to address areas of weakness.
5. Understand and analyze WHS data and information (e.g. WHS laws, regulations, benchmarking studies, industry best practices) to discover trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where risk is highest.
6. Manage regulatory relationships, including interactions, and identify trend areas for improvement.
7. Analyze data and write technical reports on safety metrics and performance.
8. Lead strategic projects to prevent injuries and enhance WHS practices.
9. Support building WHS competency and awareness across different business units. Lead, develop and deploy a standard method for monitoring work performed by contractors, and consultants, in accordance with WHS standards.
Basic Qualifications
* 5+ years of growing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
* Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
* Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental, ergonomics or a related field required.
* Must be flexible regarding shifts.
Deep Knowledge of Safe Work Australia WHS Act, Regulations, and Codes of Practice
Familiarity with SafeWork Victoria/NSW and Heavy Vehicle National Law
Proven Ability to Identify Root Causes and Mitigate Hazards
Exceptional Communication and Project Management Skills
Strong Judgment and Interpersonal Skills
Ability to Manage Multiple Priorities in a Fast-Paced Environment
Preferred Qualifications
* 2+ years of driving process improvements experience.
* Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field.
* Experience leading multiple direct reports.
