Ample is an ambitious startup changing the way energy is delivered to electric cars.
The goal of our innovation is to make it easier for a much wider range of users to own and operate an electric vehicle.
By weaving together smart battery technology, robotics and a better designed car-battery interface, we can create an Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure orders of magnitude faster and cheaper than any existing solutions. Our team solves very complex challenges by combining creative technology design with fast iteration.
This is not a company for the faint of heart.
You'll be working with a small, intense and highly capable team on cars, robots and intelligent batteries.
If the technology doesn't exist, we're not afraid to turn a dream into reality, while always keeping in mind it must be designed for reliability, affordability and easy deployment.
As a part of our team, you will help bring to fruition, technology which will have a significant, positive environmental impact!Your Role :The Ample Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship provides a fantastic opportunity to learn technical skills in the growing field of electric vehicles, and earn while you learn.
Apprentices work side-by-side with our teams dedicated to the deployment and maintenance of Ample's innovative battery swapping stations to learn practical machining skills.
Apprentices will also attend classes at local colleges to learn fundamental skills in electrical work and machinery. This apprenticeship program is a registered opportunity with the Department of Labor, designed to provide hands-on training and technical education with an estimated 2 years to complete.
Apprentices are paid on a progressive wage scale, meaning as benchmark skills are mastered and classes completed, wages will increase accordingly.
Upon completing the program, Apprentices will be given a certification for Maintenance Technician. What You'll Do :Work with a team to build Ample swapping stations, assembling them from the ground up and installing, wiring, and testing all robotic systemsRead and interpret written documentation, engineering schematics, circuit diagrams, etc.
for the purpose of product assembly, quality control and troubleshootingResolve assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resourcesVerify specifications by measuring completed componentMaintain supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of suppliesMaintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulationsCollect data, capturing any assembly issues during the build and then collaborate with the engineering team to optimize mechanical part designs for easier deployment, servicing & assemblyTravel to deployment locations to assemble products onsite, and potentially to service or improve products as needed after deploymentWhat You'll Bring :Must be able to attend related instruction courses at one of the following colleges: City College of San Francisco (CCSF), Laney College, College of San Mateo (CSM)Must have transportation and be able to visit multiple facility locations for trainingReliable self-starter, committed to delivering a quality productComfortable working closely with others and integrating constructive feedback from program mentorsDetail oriented, with a drive to grow and improve skills over timeComfortable working with high voltage and operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, cranesAble to proficiently use a PC, MS Windows, MS Office SuiteHigh School Diploma or equivalentLifting requirement (up to 50 lbs)Bonus Skills :Demonstrated expertise (experience) working in manufacturing / electromechanical assembly environment, or equivalent school / training experienceProven experience working with and around power & diagnostic tools, with a focus on safetyComputer skills are strongly preferred (gsuite, jira)Experience with electrical wiringExperience working in the field or on construction sites a plusLearning Support :Ample has partnered with several local colleges to support apprentices in achieving excellence in their occupation.
Apprentices can choose from the following institutions:City College of San Francisco (CCSF)Laney CollegeCollege of San Mateo (CSM)Our curriculum is structured so that apprentices will take courses that progress in difficulty.
Apprentices will take three courses from the list to meet the minimum 214 hour requirement.
