The Region
al Occupational Therapist contributes to the delivery of a comprehensive and integrated range of health services, appropriate to the needs of the local community. To achieve this, the Occupational Therapist works as a member of a multi- professional team, including health professionals and service providers from other sectors, and utilises a combination of preventative, early intervention, treatment / therapy and evaluation approaches.
Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network supports its staff by encouraging them to attend the 'Transition to Professional Practice Program (TPPP) for allied health' to support them in their transition to working in the country.
The key objectives of TPPP are to:
1. Provide support to assist early career AHPs in their transition to rural and remote practice
2. Assist to orientate early career AHPs to the regional LHNs and SA Health
3. Improve early career AHP's understanding of challenges facing rural healthcare
4. Improve awareness of the resources and supports available to regional AHPs
5. Reduce feelings of social and professional isolation for early career AHPs in regional LHNs
6. Increase networking opportunities to build peer support for early career AHPs
7. Positively influence early career AHP's intention to continue working in a regional LHN
The program consists of:
8. Face-to-face orientation day in Adelaide
9. Eight follow up Microsoft teams meetings
10. Face-to-face evaluation session in Adelaide
