What We Are Looking For In this role you'll focus on leading the development and improvement of strategic sports, open space, and recreation policies. It requires building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure program cooperation and capacity building. Additionally, you'll provide expert guidance to create new, effective programs and projects that deliver positive results for the community.
What Your Day Will Look Like Lead the planning, implementation, management and evaluation of strategies and best practice services for community facilities and sport and recreation organisations. Act as a first point of contact for peak sport & recreation bodies to attract, secure and host high level sporting events that provide opportunities for both economic and social growth. Research, report and provide advice on current and emerging operational and service program-related issues, trends, priorities and opportunities. Identify and seek external funding for open space and recreation projects that meet Council's requirements including management of reporting and acquittals. What You'll Need For Success Experience developing policies, strategies and procedures related to open space and recreation in a local government context. Experience coordinating high level/regionally significant sport events. Strong project management, analytical and investigative skills, including the ability to research, problem solve, analyse data, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. High level interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Experience in identifying and responding to Councillor, community and customer needs in the delivery of quality customer service outcomes. An understanding of the principles of sport, recreation and active open space planning and development and an appreciation of the long-term goals of community services. Demonstrated ability to manage competing and at times conflicting interests and priorities within the broader strategic council framework. What's Nice To Have Local Government experience. Tertiary qualification (AQF Level 7 or above) in relevant field.
