Due to great success and ongoing projects, we are expanding our team and are looking for a Design Assurance Manager to join the Naval Design and Engineering Centre in its Melbourne, Docklands office. You will come with strong technical and design knowledge and will be responsible for the design integrity, safety and seaworthiness of all engineering deliverables and activities related to Navantia Australia's ships.This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a successful multi-disciplined Engineering team and work alongside industry leaders and like-minded engineers on exciting new naval ship designs.In this role you will:Exercise the role of Class Design Authority for specific projects, engineering deliverables or in an acting capacity in support of Class Design Engineering Managers in accordance with Navantia Australia policy and process including:Assurance of the application of robust engineering processes by competent engineers;Assurance of appropriate application of system safety engineering and seaworthiness principles;Review and approval of engineering deliverables;Delivery of Designer’s Certificate, as applicable, to accompany engineering deliverables.Support the development and maintenance of engineering plans and procedures.Application of Systems Engineering principles in the development of innovative and quality engineering solutions.Participate in design coordination meetings with the rest of the Engineering Team members.Participate in Design Review Meetings with the client.Review and endorse the technical inputs of Project Plans and Scope Definitions for engineering activities.Act as a key technical advisor for customer engagement relating to engineering processes and outputs.Manage key relationships with the SPOs and CLCMs.Skills and experience required:Minimum of 15 years’ experience in maritime systems engineering, with proven breadth of knowledge across naval ship systems.Bachelor in Engineering (naval architecture, mechanical, electrical or electronics).Proven skills and experience in a naval environment working as a technical authority or subject matter expert.Proven and demonstrated integrity in administering systems engineering process.Experience working with engineering standards and class society rules.Excellent project management skills.Experience in managing design and engineering projects.Australian Citizenship and the eligibility to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Defence Security Clearance to a minimum of Baseline is essential.What it’s like to work with Navantia Australia:Navantia Australia plays a key part in the Australian government's Naval Shipbuilding Plan, we are committed to growing Australia's shipbuilding and sustainment capability and we want you to grow your career with us.At Navantia Australia, we recognise that it’s our people who are our greatest asset.
