Accredited professional entry-level courses include occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech pathology, medical imaging sciences, exercise physiology and sports sciences.

We are currently seeking to appoint an outstanding senior academic as Associate Professor or Professor of Allied Health, in partnership with the Sydney Local Health District (SLHD).
The position is a component of a strategic partnership between the School of Health Sciences, FMH and SLHD, with the objective of enhancing the research capability among allied health clinical researchers and fostering the connection between the institutions to support research and education and other activities, such as student placements.
The position is co-located at the University of Sydney and Sydney Local Health District.
This position will work alongside a passionate team of clinicians and researchers in the various allied health disciplines and pursue a research program, may teach in the Professor's relevant field, supervise postgraduate research students and contribute to the discipline's academic programs.
About you (skills, capabilities and experience) The successful candidate will:
Hold a PhD in an academic field relevant to the role
Be registered as an allied health professional with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or is eligible for membership of the relevant allied health professional association if a self-regulated profession.
Be a leading authority within their area of expertise and have an international reputation for excellence
Possess a sound understanding of the NSW public health system and current challenges and priorities
Possess a sound understanding of the key strategic issues in the higher education sector
Have experience in people leadership and management within the higher education sector and demonstrated ability to supervise and/or mentor others to success
Be passionate about improving health service delivery at the local level through enabling quality research and translation of research to practice by others
Have demonstrated success in leading an academic endeavour from curriculum design to producing leading research and providing a student-enabling environment
Have a distinguished record of scholarly teaching excellence (as evidenced through successful student outcomes, demonstrated impact on student learning, recognition through awards/prizes, and innovation)
Have international reputation as an authority in their discipline or area of expertise with a strong track record of successful competitive research grants, publications, and evidence of recognition within the broader research community
Term and remuneration This is a full time, continuing position.
The successful candidate will be offered an attractive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
The level of appointment will be determined during the selection process, based on experience and track record.
Applicants with suitable qualifications may be eligible for a salaried NSW Health Clinical appointment in SLHD subject to clinical need and funding.
Sponsorship / work rights for Australia Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance will be provided if required.
Pre-employment checks Your employment is conditional upon the completion of all role required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University.
Similarly, your ongoing employment is conditional upon the satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements.
