The Credit Modelling team within Business Banking Risk Credit Strategy and Analytics is responsible for innovative model developments to strategically enhance customer and banker experiences, address business challenges and pain points, and improve operational efficiency.

As a key member of the Business Banking Risk Credit Strategy and Analytics team, you will be responsible for a blend of modelling expertise, analytical thinking, and business acumen to design, develop, and monitor financial risk modelling and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. The primary focus of this role involves the development of foundation models and tools to deliver simplification and automation of risk processes, facilitating reduced time to decisions and the creation of capacity in Risk.
You will have the opportunity to utilise your credit modelling and data expertise to develop innovative solutions, improving the customer and banker experience to support safe and efficient growth in Business Lending.
Key Responsibilities
Model Development: Design and build advanced models and decisioning scorecards across the credit lifecycle (application, behavioural, collection, fraud models), balancing innovative model approaches with a business delivery focus to support automation across Business Banking and Business Banking Risk Management.
Innovative Analytical Solutions: Supporting proactive management of portfolio and credit settings to reflect emerging risk, including embedding data driven automation and simplification.
AI and Data Usage: The automation and streamlining of AI pathways to allow for more granular assessments and analytics, including granular transaction and interaction data, and alternative data types within future model developments.
Problem Solving and Troubleshooting: Analyse complex business problems and devise innovative technical solutions. Strong communication and ability to understand and influence end to end delivery of solutions.
Model Management: Uplift efficient model management including increasing depth and breadth of risk metrics, communicating with key model users and leadership to ensure transparency and responsible use.
Model Compliance and Responsible AI: Ensure that all solutions developed adhere to policy and comply with relevant industry standards and regulations. Effective engagement with reviewers and industry SMEs to evolve best in class approaches and oversight.
People and Leadership: Support and management of team members, ensuring a high performing team aligned to a clear customer focus.

Model Development and Artificial Intelligence: Demonstrated experience in Statistical Modelling and Machine Learning is essential; experience in a credit risk setting would be highly beneficial.
Programming/Scripting Proficiency: Expertise in one or more programming/scripting languages (including R, Python) and familiarity with software development frameworks and tools (e.g., Git, GitHub Action, Jenkins, Docker).
Data Management: Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., Teradata, Spark, Hive, SQL), data analysis tools (R, Python), and data integration techniques. Ability to work across platforms is essential.
Business Understanding: A solid understanding of business processes, workflows, objectives, and challenges to align technical solutions with business goals.
Problem-Solving Skills: Analytical mindset to identify business challenges and propose effective technical solutions.
Agile Methodology: Familiar or has prior experience working in an Agile environment.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Continuous Learning: Eagerness to stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends to improve existing skills and adapt to emerging tools and risks (e.g., Machine Learning / Natural Language Processing).
People Focus: Good experience and demonstrable focus on people development and creating a strong, safe, and inclusive culture within the team.
