Join us at Central Tablelands Local Land Services, the Regional Delivery Partner for the Australian Government's National Heritage Trust program. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Land Services Officer Aboriginal Communities to play a pivotal role in fostering meaningful connections with First Nations people and organisations within our region.
What You Will Be Responsible For:
As a Senior Land Services Officer Aboriginal Communities, you will play a pivotal role in collaborating with Aboriginal communities to design and implement programs that address the needs and aspirations of the local community, while also aligning with the Local Land Services Local Strategic plan and the priorities of key investors, such as the Australia Government.
In addition to this, your role will involve building and strengthening connections, building cultural competency across our team and identifying areas of mutual benefit for sustainable agricultural practices and natural resource management.
Key Responsibilities:
Building community: strengthen connections with First Nations people and organisations across the region to build trust and collaboration.
Increasing engagement: Engage effectively with community to ensure that cultural practices are honoured, fostering an environment of trust and mutual respect
Build our capacity to work with Aboriginal Women: We need someone with the experience and ability to engage with Aboriginal communities specifically on projects and programs that relate to traditional women's business in a way that honours traditional lore and protocols.
Cultural competency training: Support the design and implementation of projects that build cultural competency across our internal teams
Cultural broker network – Support the development of this group which focuses on aligning community and LLS aspirations as well as the codesign of projects in the Central Tablelands region.
Project management – Lead and implement projects and initiatives in partnership with community, land managers, land management groups and various industry groups.
What does a day in this role look like:
Spending time with Indigenous communities to build strong relationships.
Meeting with project managers and local groups to strengthen connections.
Coordinating project timelines, tracking milestones, and managing budgets.
Attending local events alongside LLS staff and community members.
Collaborating with team members and other Aboriginal Community Officers to deliver services and support groups
Bringing community ideas and project concepts to life through hands-on planning and action.
Participating in traditional land management activities on Country.
Essential requirements:
Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and accepted in the community as such. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1997
A deep understanding of the cultural significance of women’s business within First Nations communities
Proven experience in community engagement and collaboration with First Nations people and organisations.
Advanced communication and community engagement skills, especially in engaging with First Nations community groups
Proficient project management skills
Advanced collaboration and teamwork skills including working with small project teams
Current NSW Class C Driver License and the ability and willingness to travel
