The Team Manager – Platform Engineering is responsible for providing leadership for those involved in the development, design and optimisation of one or more information technology and systems functions supporting company business processes and technical information systems platforms.
Role Responsibilities
The Team Manager – Platform Engineering is responsible for (but not limited to) :
* Establishing and maintaining Operational Excellence in the technologies supported by your team as agreed with the Manager – Operations.
* Continuing support of Platform Engineering services ensuring they are highly available as per customer requirements allowing for operational sustainability and ensure resourcing is adequate to meet customer demand.
* Contributing to the Major Incident & Business Continuity plan for Technology Operations and to manage measures designed to safeguard the Information Technology and Management needs of the Business and customers in the event of major incidents or disasters.
* Selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
* Providing direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Administering company policies that directly affect subordinate employees.
* Recommending changes to unit or sub-unit policies. Management reviews work to measure meeting of objectives.
* Responsible for implementing a principle driven health and safety culture that cares for employees and ensures their safety in line with Datacom policy.
* Takes reasonable care that their actions (or inactions) do not harm the Health and Safety of self or others. Reports all incidents, hazards or unsafe work practices as per Datacom policy.
Requirements
Knowledge
* Extensive knowledge in supporting relevant technologies
* Understanding of the technologies used in your team
* Understanding of Automation technologies and concepts
* Working knowledge of hybrid cloud and native cloud environments
* Public cloud offerings specifically AWS & Azure
* Cloud solution design and implementation
* Working knowledge of industry best practice relating to Security and hardening
* Working knowledge of technology licensing models
* Working knowledge of ITIL processes
Experience
* 7+ years of IT experience preferably with Development background
* Proven experience with automation languages, practices and toolsets
* Experience leading and managing teams

* Proficient with modern DevOps Tools and utilities.
* Exercise’s judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining results.
* Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
* Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Strong presentation and report writing skills.

* Orchestration expertise in provisioning, private and public cloud, preferably with experience in AWS and Azure automation.
Qualifications and Certifications
* Bachelor degree in Computer Science, technology or a related discipline.
* ITIL Foundations V3.
* MCSE Qualifications.
* MCSAM / MCITP – Microsoft Exchange Certified Administrator.
