This position is offered on a Full-time basis and is based at our Bebegu Yumba campus in Townsville. HEWL 6: $85,816 - $92,948 per annum up to 17% super. Monday - Friday with no weekend work required. This position is also eligible for a 3% pay rise after 1 st July 2025. WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE As the experienced Building Management System Technician / Controls Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations at the Townsville Campus by providing high-quality, control system services to maintain the operational integrity of JCU's assets. In this role you will oversee the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems while ensuring all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and compliance requirements. Additionally, you will provide field supervision to contractors ensuring that all electrical and control system work is executed safely and efficiently. WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE Completion of a trade certification in a refrigeration/electrical and/or instrumentation discipline and experience in Building Management Systems Proven ability to work within a team environment in an asset maintenance operation and experience in supervising contractors undertaking works. Knowledge of building and distributed electrical systems and an ability to carry out asset maintenance and minor construction works, ensuring compliance with codes of practice and industry regulations. Effective written and verbal communication skills to develop briefs and instructions for minor electrical works, including a demonstrated ability to consult and liaise with staff from all levels of university and external parties. Effective computer and mobile literacy with experience utilising digital technology to complete electrical works. Experience in control and energy management with a focus on driving efficacies and optimising existing systems. WHY JCU?
