About us
The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes.
The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.
The QFD is an organisation that is focused on reframing the department’s relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through the Path to Treaty, Closing the Gap and building our cultural capability.
Purpose of the role
QFD is a registered training organisation (RTO) provider of nationally recognised training that has been registered by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). The RTO unit provides quality assurance to ensure the department’s compliance against current vocational education and training legislation and the Australian Qualifications Framework for registered training organisations when delivering both nationally accredited and non-accredited training and assessment to operational QFR and RFSQ staff and volunteers. This will contribute to the effective organisational requirements in the implementation of training, assessment and evaluation strategies to meet best practice guidelines and standards and improve the department’s operational capability to better respond to community impact during emergency events.
Reporting to the Manager, you will provide administration and project support for a variety of initiatives and activities to maintain and improve the level of adherence and best practice with the RTO compliance framework to ensure QFD’s RTO obligations under the regulatory standards. You will work closely with key stakeholders, trainers, assessors and students to monitor and conduct effective business processes to meet service delivery and project deliverables.

Knowledge and/or experience working within an RTO environment.
Experience with provision of administrative support in a project environment.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
Provide administrative and project support, including disseminating information, maintaining document management systems, filing and tracking of project records to support business outcomes.
Review and analyse assessment data, enrolment applications and qualification evidence within the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure accurate and quality student outcomes in line with RTO compliance, standards, policy and procedures.
Identify gaps and issues in learner data, and provide advice and support to key stakeholders to ensure they maintain systems and quality student data to meet best practice standards within the compliance framework.
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of RTO-related projects and tasks, maintaining logs and providing status updates and communications, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and timelines.
Ensure that all training and assessment activities, including reporting comply with relevant legislation, industry standards, and the RTO’s policies and procedures, and regulatory standards as set by ASQA.
Support internal and external audits by providing assistance in gathering necessary documentation and evidence to demonstrate compliance with ASQA and other regulatory bodies.
Liaise and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders in relation to various program matters to ensure consideration of issues and delivery of positive outcomes.
Undertake research, analysis and provide advice in the development, review and continuous improvement of administrative systems and processes, project documentation and technical solutions.
