PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: Provide measurement of actual progress to plans to provide accuracy and integrity of project costs, baselines and forecasts. Conduct progress assessments and variation analysis to identify corrective actions and opportunities for improvement. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Assists with procurement and delivery phase quantity surveying duties as required including preparation of cost estimates, support and provide inputs to procurement and tendering, contract administration, variation management and final accounting. Ensure the approved budget is correctly reflected in SAP & cost reports. Prepare and submit cost plans templates to project finance for uploading - P44 templates - against approved estimates. Conduct analysis to ensure costs are correctly allocated to Projects/WBS codes. Assigns resources to the correct WBS for time sheeting. Journals and corrections processed according to SWC internal governance. Review and monitor project total expenditure including verifying and checking invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors. Assist with on-site progress verification as required. Support the project management team with cost advice for early warnings, compensation events and cost forecasting. Lead the preparation of cost inputs for cost performance and the development of monthly cost reporting including status of progress, issues, early warnings and compensation events. Responsible for accuracy of revisions to cost plans and forecasts to programme and SAP. Responsible for accuracy, and timeliness of monthly cost reports to help analyse the project’s current and future performance and cost trends and identify opportunities for cost efficiencies. ESSNETIAL CRITERIA: Minimum 7 years of experience in infrastructure or construction projects in a cost discipline: including: quantity surveying, cost planning or cost control. Demonstrated knowledge of project accounting policies, project appraisal, project planning & budgeting, and project reporting requirements. Bachelor’s degree in a Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, related discipline or other qualifications in conjunction with suitable experience may be considered. Chartered status from a recognised professional body preferred. Demonstrated experience in tendering, tender evaluation, and claim evaluation. Demonstrated experience in project progress evaluations, project statusing and/or work verification. Sound technical skills in project cost planning, scheduling, cost control and reporting. Experience developing briefing papers and information packs related to project costs. Skilled in oral and written communication, with demonstrated skill in presenting cost engineering information to management/clients.
