Band 6 Salary: $91,663.12 –$99,412.18 plus 11.5% superannuation Department: Communications & Engagement Go Further, Right Here at Latrobe City Council We're searching for an experienced Communications and Engagement Advisor to join our Communications and Engagement team.About The Role Join our team to support the creation and implementation of strategic communication plans and strategies and aid in the development of innovative community engagement practices that foster community involvement.Additional position objectives: Proactively and strategically support Council's media relations, including preparing for potential issues and developing positive media opportunities.Deliver key corporate publications that reflect the Latrobe City brand and sub-brands and meet the objectives of the organisation.Proactively seek out opportunities to improve and align community and stakeholder relationships and activities being undertaken by Latrobe City Council.Develop communications and training materials, including engagement tools and platforms, presentations, online material, newsletters and fact sheets.Design, deliver and evaluate evidence-based community and stakeholder engagement projects.About You: You will possess highly developed oral and written communication skills, including superior editing abilities.You'll have a strong understanding of communication and media best practices, coupled with analytical and investigative skills to effectively communicate public policy.You will excel in relationship building and have well-developed liaison, communication, and facilitation skills for both internal and external audiences.A thorough knowledge of the political and organisational operations of Local Government, especially in a changing environment is desirable.You'll need: Relevant tertiary qualifications in journalism, communications, marketing or public relations.Demonstrated experience in community engagement.Highly developed communication skills - oral, written and public presentation with demonstrated ability to engage with the community and gain the cooperation of both internal and external stakeholders.Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communications plans and preparing a range of communications materials.Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful engagement practices and activities.Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a highly political environment.Ability to demonstrate personal leadership while actively contributing to a positive team environment.Ability to produce, edit and publish news articles, social media content and marketing materials.Knowledge of digital and social media tools.Proven experience with applying this knowledge to communicate on behalf of a business or organisation.IAP2 Certificate of Engagement or well-founded experience in community engagement practices.Current Victorian Drivers Licence.Successful applicants will be required to apply for and satisfactorily obtain a National Police Check and Working with Children's Check.To apply Visit www.latrobe.vic.gov.au/careers to submit your application and respond to the Key Selection Criteria.Applications will close at 11.59 PM on Sunday 10 November 2024.
