An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Melbourne team for a self-sufficient and motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join on a twelve-month fixed term basis!
What you will deliver
As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for project quality, robustness and delivery of mechanical subsystems within a larger product development program. To break it down, you will:
* Deliver robust and high-quality mechanical solutions
* Demonstrate understanding of the system design objectives (cost, performance) and constraints (manufacturability, feasibility) and guide the decisions of the mechanical teams in accordance to these
* Budget setting, tracking and forecasting for project mechanical effort
* Develop instrument mechanical architecture and ensure quality of group mechanical deliverables
* Lead mechanical team to deliver quality outcomes to schedule and budget
* Provide support in response to requests for assistance in matters relating to product and in-field issues
* Establish, implement and manage build activities within Invetech staged development programs
* Supplier and stakeholder management
What you will bring
You will be a collaborative team player with a passion for discovery and a commitment to workplace wellbeing and safety. As part of a small, tight-knit team, strong relationship building, and communication skills will be critical in this role. You will also bring:
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* At least 6 years relevant experience in product development including complex electro-mechanical devices
* Extensive experience across the product development lifecycle
* Experience developing equipment for use in cleanroom and cGMP environments highly regarded
* Demonstrated design expertise in at least one of the following disciplines: robotics, fluidics, optics, mechanisms, plastic moulding, structures, thermal control
* Competency in CAD (Solidworks)
* Experience with a variety of manufacturing methods and working with suppliers
* Experience generating technical documents including design descriptions, test plans and reports
* Proven ability to lead, train, mentor and coach others
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
