We are looking for a commercially oriented Engineer to be located in Eastern Creek, Sydney. The successful candidate will work with a small team of young professionals to achieve the smooth running of the technical division of the company.
Responsibilities
1. Assist management with all technical aspects of the product range.
2. Perform fastener testing (mechanical testing; tensile, proof load, hardness, coating evaluation, etc).
3. Provide input for critical Customer Complaints involving product.
4. Adhere to NATA lab guidelines whilst undertaking testing of product.
5. Perform engineering duties in maintenance of lab equipment and test devices.
6. Work with Sales and our Distributor base providing engineering support on related projects.
7. Confirm validity of test results and continue to develop in-house test methods.
8. Produce and revise engineering drawings with Solidworks modelling.
9. Liaise with third party laboratories for external services such as chemical analysis testing.
10. Take responsibility as a Quality Assurance Supervisor for the product range.
11. Troubleshoot, train, and redesign products or applications to ensure products are used correctly and that Hobson meets or exceeds customer expectations.
12. Respond to technical enquiries and provide engineering solutions to customer problems.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor of Engineering. Our product range requires mechanical engineering skills. Strong proficiency in civil engineering and concrete anchoring would be an advantage.
2. A minimum of 2-3 years working in the engineering field with a focus on fastening systems in steel, concrete, and timber.
3. Experience working in a NATA accredited fastener testing lab.
4. Experience in maintaining & repairing laboratory machinery and equipment including calibration.
5. EA (Engineers Australia) accreditation or approved skills assessment.
6. Knowledge of self-drilling screws and rivets-applications/installation and relevant standards.
7. Proficient in understanding ETAG certifications of anchors.
8. Proficient in Anchor design software for both mechanical and chemical masonry anchors.
9. Strong leadership and organisation skills to work in a commercially oriented organisation seeking results.
10. Able to work and communicate on varying technical levels within the organisation and with external stakeholders.
11. Strong Solidworks skills.
12. Experience in writing technical publications.
