Description
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Lead Software Engineer at ELMO is required to operate on two different levels:
Individually
Has expert technical knowledge and is ready and willing to share learning and experiences with others to be more effective in their roles.
Able to solve deep, complex technical problems with maintainable well-crafted software.
Actively involved in helping guide others through tough technical challenges.
Able to communicate technical concepts confidently and clearly.
A solid team player proficient at delivering software products using agile practices.
Is maturing as a thought leader in technology and architecture able to take concerns like infrastructure, identity management, security, scalability, performance, concurrency and maintainability into consideration.
Ensure compliance with Information Security and privacy policies and procedures.

Lead and drive technical projects within a team.
Able to drive technical solid thought leadership and ability to influence Product Managers and Engineering managers to reduce technical debt and align the product roadmap with the technical roadmap.

Customer-centric, considerate of the product and its intended for end-users.
Pivotal at improving both the product, the team's environment and internal technical processes.
Manage and actively maintain the technical debt backlog.
Complete High-level estimates and conduct spikes to de-risk these estimates.
Determine and document technical/architectural solutions.
Developing the technical vision and roadmap to align with business objectives and broader Elmo Architecture.
Assess new technologies and see-through adoption.
Incident response and mitigation.
Ensure quality and security practices meet outcomes (test coverage, reviews, production monitoring, OWASP and cybersecurity etc.).
Technical alignment (ensure consistency and speed in technical solutions, processes and operation) e.g. Branching Strategies, Pipeline Management, Technical practices, Conventions.
Individual engineers are recruited, onboarded, upskilled and continuously technically mentored.
Ensure compliance with ELMO’s information security privacy policies and procedures.
The core responsibilities of the Lead Software Engineer includes but is not limited to:
Manage and actively maintain the technical debt backlog.

Skills And Experiences
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with a concentration in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience of minimum of three years.
7+ years of experience in software development including migration
Proven leadership skill (mentoring and coaching junior to mid developers)
Strong knowledge of .NET web framework, .NET core, and Entity Framework.
Proficient in {{C# and/or VB.NET}}, with a good knowledge of their ecosystems
Demonstrated 3-5 years' work experience of agile/scrum methodology
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP)
Familiarity with React JS
Familiarity with AWS services
Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server
Familiar with various design and architectural patterns
Understanding of fundamental design principles for building a scalable application
A knack for writing clean, readable, and easily maintainable code
Experience implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial
Follow industry best practices
Well-developed communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
