Plus up to 14.5% superannuation (conditions apply)Ref No: 25-037We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Counsel who possesses the ability to provide legal assistance and support with general principles of law, property law, planning law, employment law, and industrial relations as well as governance-related queries within the regulatory framework of local government.
The position exercises a degree of autonomy, with paralegal support, and direction from the General Counsel.
The ideal candidate will have 4+ years (consecutive) in a private practice law firm with property and regulatory law experience (with exposure to government clients being desirable but not essential), as well as post-admission experience across property law, contract law, dispute resolution, commercial drafting, and compliance.

4+ years (consecutive) in a private practice law firm with property and regulatory law.Experience in providing excellent verbal and written legal advice to people with widely varying understanding of legal principles.High-level legal interpretation and an understanding of the importance of remaining informed about legislative requirements, particularly in relation to Local Government.Highly developed research, technical drafting, negotiation, advisory, and dispute resolution skills.Experience in pre-contract risk assessment, due diligence, contract management, and tender and non-tender procurement documentation.Relevant tertiary qualification and qualified to practice law in Australia.Other benefits include professional development and training opportunities, as well as flexible working arrangements including changes in hours of work or patterns of work or working from home.
