Hospital information
* Located in NSW's 2nd largest city Newcastle, just 2hrs drive from Sydney, John Hunter Hospital is a world-class tertiary healthcare facility.
* Partner with the University of Newcastle - enhancing its reputation as a hub for medical training and research, while pioneering healthcare advancements.
* JH is is one of the most used healthcare campuses in NSW. It has one of the busiest Emergency Departments, trauma centres and public hospital neurosurgery units in the state of NSW.
* 820 beds and is the only Level 1 trauma center in the region, providing critical, emergency, and specialised care to the region and northern NSW areas.
* Combines comprehensive adult and pediatric services, including a renowned Children’s Hospital, serving almost 100k people annually.

This investment will
* Deliver enhanced and expanded facilities with a new seven-storey acute services building
* Deliver a new Emergency Department to meet a projected future demand of over 95,000 presentations per annum
* Double the capacity of the Intensive Care Unit and provide capacity for future expansion
* Provide 22 operating theatres and nine (9) interventional suites to respond to significantly increasing demand
* Deliver five procedure rooms for endoscopy and minor procedures
* Provide purpose-built flexible education space co-located within clinical services.
Radiology
* At JH, the Divisions of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine provide a complete range of training modalities including General Radiology, Fluoroscopy, Tomography, Angiography, Interventional Procedures, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and PET.
* The hospital is joined with the University of Newcastle HMRI - one of Australia's largest medical research institutes. This includes a major research imaging centre which is equipped with high quality imaging tech - includes functional MRI, diffusion tensor imaging, MR spectroscopy and clinical imaging. Equipment in the HMRI includes Siemens AG 3T Prisma MRI.
* The focus in the department of radiology is on patient centred care, collaboration and high levels of service. Professionally, professional development, teaching and training is also important.
* As a Paediatric Radiologist you must be able to demonstrate subspecialist experience in paediatric imaging, have imaging skills in CT, ultrasound, MR and especially in acute inpatient imaging. You will have first class communication skills and be personable with a collaborative working style.
Selection critieria
* FRANZCR or equivalent.
* Radiologists trained outside of Australia, already assessed by RANZCR will be highly regarded.
* Subspecialty experience in paediatric imaging.
* Evidence of organisational skills, communication skills, professional and personal skills to undertake effectively the role of consultant in Radiology in a major teaching hospital.
* Evidence to support good interpersonal skills.
* Evidence to support good communication skills.
* Evidence of previous teaching experience at various levels.
* An understanding of clinical governance and experience of clinical audit.
* Interest in research with publications and presentation(s) at National/International meetings and so on.
