About the team
We are seeking a specialist front-end construction and projects lawyer to join our team in Melbourne as a Senior Associate or Special Counsel.
Project, construction and infrastructure activity continues at an unprecedented level across the country – including to meet growing demands for renewable energy and social outcomes and the CI&P group is expanding in response to those challenges.
The team advises in relation to all aspects of construction, infrastructure and projects for both private and public sector clients. We support our clients through the entire project lifecycle to manage risk and deliver great outcomes. We act for principals, sponsors, contractors, suppliers and developers.
About the role
Working closely with our three partners, in particular Scott Schlink, as well as the opportunity to work with the broader national team, you will provide support on transactions as well as running matters autonomously. The role provides a client and project focus and the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of work in all aspects of construction, infrastructure services and operations, and projects. Scott, as well as the firm more broadly, specialises in renewable energy practice and advises extensively in this area.
In addition, at this level of seniority, you will have experience in and a desire to work closely with less experienced lawyers in the team, with a focus on professional development, supervision and guidance.
Whilst the role has a strong front-end focus, the ability and willingness to work on international transactions, renewable energy matters and disputes as and when required will be an advantage. Your clients will include major institutions, government, developers, renewable developers and top tier contractors based in Australia and NSEA.
Your skills and experience
Ideally, you will be 6 or more years PAE and possess a genuine passion for contracts and transactional construction, infrastructure and project work, with exposure to clients in both the public and private sector.
Your knowledge and proven experience in front-end construction or other significant commercial contract or procurement disciplines, together with your demonstrated expertise in documenting and advising on complex projects will be crucial to your success in this role.
You will be a self-starter, with excellent communication skills and drive. You will also possess exceptional drafting skills and thrive in a busy and supportive team environment.
