Harrup Park and Great Barrier Reef Arena is the leading sport, recreation, and entertainment venue in the Mackay region.The venue prides itself on providing the highest quality food, beverage, gaming, and event offerings available in Mackay.We have a modern function centre, 200 of the latest gaming machines, bars, café, and the best outdoor garden bar in the region.Alongside the recently completed Great Barrier Reef Arena which is a world-class international cricket and AFL facility.The Great Barrier Reef Arena hosts top tier cricket matches, AFLW, and major concerts.With a strong presence in hospitality, events, and sports, we are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure compliance, accuracy, and profitability across our venue.Position Overview:The Financial Controller will have responsibility for all financial aspects of the Club and Great Barrier Reef Arena, including financial planning, budget management, debt financing, and compliance.As a key decision-maker, you'll collaborate with senior management, providing insights and strategic guidance on financial standings, budget allocations, and profitability maximization.Key Responsibilities:Financial Planning & Budget Management:Lead annual budget planning, cash flow forecasting, and detailed financial analysis, providing monthly and year-to-date reports.Accounting & Compliance:Manage end-to-end accounting functions (payroll, taxation, superannuation), ensuring compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements particularly with gaming and liquor licensing.Banking & Financial Analysis:Oversee banking operations, cash handling procedures, and reporting on business stream performance, particularly in bar, gaming, and catering.Stock & Wage Control:Ensure rigorous stock control and wage management practices are in place, maintaining profitability and operational efficiency across departments.Regularly assess inventory levels, cost of goods, and wage expenses in relation to budget targets.Coordinating Insurances:Overseeing insurance policies (Liability, Workcover, Vehicles, Buildings), managing renewals, claims, and compliance.Reporting & Internal Controls:Regularly produce reports for the General Manager and Board, monitor stock control and expenditure, and implement internal control systems.Risk & Compliance Management:Act as the compliance officer for AML/CTF requirements and ensure workplace health, safety, and privacy law adherence.Human Resource Functions:Support HR as required, including recruitment, staff development, and workplace grievance management.Leadership & Collaboration:Work with departmental managers, liaise with external stakeholders (auditors, regulatory bodies), and lead by example, maintaining high standards of integrity and professionalism.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with CA or CPA preferred.At least 5 years in a similar role, ideally within club, hospitality, or sporting operations.Advanced knowledge of accounting software (preferably Xero), POS systems, financial analysis, and statutory compliance.Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with a talent for effective cross-team collaboration and skill in managing a range of operational challenges.Understanding of gaming operations and relevant legislation (e.g., AML/CTF, WHS).Licensing: RSA, RSG, RMLV, and Approved Managers License, First Aid Certificate, Current Police Check.Familiarity with financial requirements specific to club and sporting complex operations.Why Join Us at Harrup Park and the Great Barrier Reef Arena?Work at an iconic North Queensland venue, supporting a vibrant selection of community, sporting, and entertainment events.Join a collaborative and dynamic team dedicated to professional growth and a shared commitment to excellence.Be part of a venue that prioritizes integrity, community engagement, and outstanding experiences for our visitors.If you're a proactive finance professional ready to make a difference, apply now with your resume and cover letter.Applications close 19/11/2024.#J-18808-Ljbffr
