Registration: Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs), who are not already registered in Australia or New Zealand, must apply directly to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) to have their existing training and experience assessed for specialist recognition of being equivalent to that of an Australian and/or New Zealand trained Psychiatrist.
The initial cost of the assessment is close to AUS$6,000 and is paid by the Doctor.

Doctors from other WHO designated countries, including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and The Netherlands will also be considered.
Doctors from all WHO and non-WHO countries, eg South Africa, will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis if they can prove, via IELTS or OETS results, that they are fluent in English.
Seeking experienced Consultant Psychiatrists with at least 3-5 years' post board certification experience who can provide clinical leadership, advice and consultation-liaison support to all health care professionals, other providers and agencies, carers and consumers throughout the region.
You will be skilled in and expected to examine, assess, diagnose and treat patients with a variety of mental illnesses.
You will be responsible for the provision of clinical assessment and psychiatric treatment for children and adolescents and/or adult populations for both admitted patients and in their outpatient Community Mental Health (CMH) environments.
You will be required to provide clinical governance across all Mental Health Services, promote the organisational culture, uphold employer's values, principles of person-centred care, trauma informed and recovery focused service delivery.
Besides a favourable outcome of your assessment by RANZCP, all Psychiatrists must be able and willing to engage with staff and clients in a position of trust and responsibility requiring the undertaking of criminal records' screening and integrity checking before an appointment is made.
