Every role in our SSN AUKUS team is helping to deliver essential sovereign capability for Australia.As the Australian Industry Capability (AIC) and Industry Development Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the defence supply chain. Fostering strong partnerships with Australian SMEs, your expertise will be instrumental in identifying and capturing opportunities to enhance Australia’s sovereign industrial capability and underpin resilience across tri-lateral submarine programs. You’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that support the growth of local industry, contributing to the nation’s defence and security.In this role, you will be responsible for:Developing and implementing a strategic vision for AIC, aligning with broader customer strategies (e.g. DIDS, CNS, AUKUS Submarine Industry Strategy) and business objectives.Identifying and capturing AIC opportunities across supply chain and program.Developing the framework for robust business cases to support AIC initiatives and direct targeted investments.Influencing government policy to support the growth of the defence industry.Fostering strong relationships with Australian industry and driving their capabilities.Building and leading a high-performing team, providing guidance and mentorship.Representing BAE Systems Australia at industry events and conferences to strengthen relationships and promote the company’s brand.Driving continuous improvement in AIC & Industry development processes and outcomes.Championing industry development and technology transfer through mobilisation.About YOUYou will have:Relevant tertiary qualification in commerce, supply chain, or a related field is preferred. Industry certifications (e.g., CIPS) are advantageous.A deep understanding of the Australian defence and government landscape, with expertise in commercial, procurement, and supply chain management.A strategic mindset to enable program establishment, identify opportunities and drive innovation.Demonstrated experience in leading a team with proven ability to lead, motivate and develop others.A strong understanding of commercial principles and contract management including operating within the ASDEFCON framework.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.A flexibility mindset to adapt to changing priorities and work environments.A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.We believe in hiring for potential; we know that some candidates hesitate if they don’t tick all the boxes.
