About the Role:
Aurizon Bulk Central are looking for a high performing Infrastructure Maintenance Engineer to join the Infrastructure Management team.
As an Engineer in the Infrastructure Team, you will lead the Asset Management of Railway Infrastructure throughout Aurizon Bulk Central rail networks within South Australia and Northern Territory. The role offers an exciting challenge, with over 3000km of railway networks under management maintained from key depot locations at Darwin, Alice Springs, Adelaide, Thevenard, Whyalla and Port Augusta.
In the role you will report to the Infrastructure Manager and work alongside other Engineers, strategizing and prioritising infrastructure maintenance and renewals/replacements. You will also work alongside the Track Superintendents to provide guidance and prioritise the delivery of maintenance works and emergency recovery works.
You can expect to spend around 25% of your time in the field, travelling throughout the networks, to assess the condition, defects, failure modes and requirements of the assets you manage. The remaining time will be office-based.
In the role you will:
1. Under some direction and guidance, organise and plan the technical aspects of civil projects including the design and preparation of user requirement specifications, material and component specifications, safety in design requirements for new and altered works.
2. Under some direction and guidance, checking and auditing of civil systems submitted by external providers.
3. Organise and prepare the associated documentation, user requirements, system requirements, installation procedures, verification and validation, testing and commissioning, asset handover, type approval, maintenance procedures for (qualification) systems.
4. Under some guidance and direction, ensure that civil designs produced conform to business and industry best practice.
5. Identify requirements for new processes and standards, and contribute to the production and implementation of new standards, specifications and work practices.
About You:
You will have a strong background in Civil Engineering, in Construction, Maintenance and/or Asset Management, with the ability to apply your expertise practically in an operational environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Mandatory).
* 3-5+ years' technical experience (Preferred)
Specific Skills:
* Substantial skill in the development of technical, design, construction and maintenance engineering solutions, and the application of new technology and techniques.
* High level of skill in communication to effectively liaise with other sections, external providers, suppliers, regulatory authorities, users and trade staff in the introduction of new technologies and techniques.
* High level of skill in planning and undertaking professional work without direct supervision and in exercising initiative in the application of professional practices and to take responsibility for project deliverables.
* High level of interpersonal, written and communication, consultation and negotiation skills.
* Sound skill in developing and implementing standards and procedures for engineering systems and networks.
* Sound skill in checking of engineering systems and designs including a proven track record of resolving problems to improve overall performance.
* Sound skill in developing and controlling estimates, budgets and programs
