The Opportunity The Strategic Transport Planner will play a critical role in shaping South Australia's transport future by delivering high-level investigations, multi-modal transport studies, and strategic initiatives. This position will contribute directly to the development and implementation of the South Australian Transport Strategy, guiding the evolution of all transport modes over the next 30 years. The role will focus on aligning transport strategies with broader state priorities and ensuring community engagement and collaboration across departments. A key responsibility will be managing relationships with external service providers, ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of outputs that meet both strategic and operational objectives. About you You are a strategic thinker with a proven track record in delivering transport solutions that align with government priorities. Your ability to collaborate effectively, communicate clearly, and manage key stakeholders ensures successful project outcomes. Your strengths will include: Proven experience in influencing and negotiating outcomes that align with strategic objectives. Strong strategic thinking, able to navigate multi-faceted objectives and deliver well-positioned transport advice and strategies. Qualifications/Experience For appointment to the role at the PO3 classification level, a degree in Engineering providing eligibility for membership as a Professional Engineer of the Institution of Engineers, Australia is required, or a tertiary qualification in Planning. For appointment to the role at the ASO6 classification level, tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Science, Planning, Policy or Business is highly desirable. Special Conditions The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years. Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required. Remuneration PO3 - $101,285 to $107,078 pa + superannuation. ASO6 - $98,478 to $104,165 pa + superannuation.
